Jewellery care
If you take good care of your beautiful JEWLSCPH jewellery – it will stay beautiful for a long time. Jewellery wears and ages like everything else, which is why it is important that you follow our advice and maintain your jewellery's beauty.
- Avoid your jewellery coming into contact with perfume, cream, and hairspray
- Avoid your jewellery being exposed to water, moisture, or chemicals – including hand sanitiser
- Avoid your jewellery being exposed to sports, bathing, cooking, and do not wear it when you sleep
- Avoid knocks and bumps – especially jewellery with gemstones must be handled gently
- Avoid sudden "pulls" on your chains – because even though they are well-made, each link is delicate and a sudden pull can cause them to break.
- If damage has occurred and you need service – we are of course always ready to help. Visit our stores and we will assess the jewellery.
Storage
Store your jewellery in the accompanying JEWLSCPH box when you are not wearing it – or in small plastic bags (available in our stores) individually, so they do not scratch each other or are exposed to sunlight or air, thereby risking discoloration. If you prefer to have your jewellery on display, a jewellery stand is fine, but make sure they hang with space between them and do not rub together.
Specific advice – your SILVER jewellery
Our silver jewellery is all made of 925 sterling silver – and is always surface-treated and 100% nickel-free. The silver jewellery either has a white tone due to a thin layer of white rhodium, or it is rose gold-plated, standard gold-plated, or black ruthenium-plated.
All surface treatments will wear off over time. Some people wear their jewellery more than others, so it is difficult to accurately assess how long a surface will last. Some people also have a specific acid in their body, which causes their jewellery to wear faster. Jewellery also wears faster if it comes into contact with chemicals (e.g. perfume, cream, hand sanitiser or hairspray), moisture, water, cooking and similar.
If your silver jewellery is set with gemstones, you should have it inspected every two years to check for loose settings etc.
If your jewellery is worn or needs cleaning – visit one of our stores and we will do our best to make your jewellery beautiful as new again.
Specific advice – your GOLD jewellery
Our gold jewellery is made of either 14 or 18 carat – and is guaranteed nickel-free. The gold jewellery is also available in rose gold or white gold. White gold is achieved by mixing other metals with gold, and the "white" colour will inevitably become more "yellowish" over time. When this happens, you bring the jewellery to us and we will restore the white colour.
Our gold jewellery is primarily set with diamonds – bring them in approximately every two years and we will check for any loose gemstones.
CLEAN your jewellery
Has your jewellery become greasy, dirty or oxidised? Then you can clean it yourself.
Household tricks:
NOTE only silver jewellery and without gemstones. Put boiling water in a bowl with small balls of aluminium foil and a little salt. Put the silver jewellery in for a couple of minutes – it "brightens" the jewellery.
Gold and silver jewellery with gemstones (not pearls). Place the jewellery in lukewarm water with washing-up liquid for 10 minutes and clean it with a soft toothbrush or polishing cloth.
Other:
- Polishing cloth – general purpose cloth. Pearls should be polished every time they are used, as they are a soft material and very susceptible to dirt.
- Silver cleaner + polishing cloth
- Special silver and precious metal wipes
Special cleaning – bought from the jeweller:
At the jeweller, you can buy everything to clean your jewellery with. However, be aware that these are chemicals, so read the accompanying instructions for use.
Possible costs for service
Regilding/ruthenium plating/silver plating: 400 DKK – however, wide bracelets and other jewellery with large surfaces may be slightly more expensive.
Ring size adjustment: 300 DKK.
